NARMC's Critical Care Unit
The critical care unit is a combination unit with 16 intensive care beds and 8 step-down beds. Each room is designed to provide privacy for the patient and family while providing the staff with the necessary equipment and space to care for critical patients. We use a centralized monitoring system, with a skilled technician providing 24 hour cardiac monitoring of all 24 patients in the CCU area, along with the telemetry patients located on the med-surg unit. In addition to the large centralized nursing station, we also provide small individual cubicle stations between each intensive care room. This allows the nurse to chart and place orders without leaving the patient, enhancing the ability to monitor patients more closely.
